Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for the Syrang of Lascars, Lascar, Fireman (Boat Crew), & Topass positions, candidates must meet the following requirements:

Educational Qualifications
Candidates must have one of the following qualifications:
Syrang of Lascars:
- (a) 10th pass from a recognised Institute or Board.
- (b) Syrang Certificate granted under Inland Vessels Act, 1917 or Merchant Shipping Act, 1958.
- (c) Two years experience as Syrang-in-Charge of a registered vessel of twenty horse power.
Lascar:
- (a) 10th pass from a recognised Institute or Board.
- (b) Knowledge of swimming.
- (c) One year experience on a registered vessel.
Fireman:
- (a) 10th pass from a recognised Institute or Board.
- (b) Knowledge of swimming.
- (c) Certificate of having completed pre-sea training course.
Topass:
- (i) 10th pass from a recognised Institute or Board.
- (ii) Knowledge of swimming.
Age Limit
- The age limit for candidates is between 18 and 25 years old.
Selection Process
The selection process will include:
- Written Examination
- Swimming Test – Required for Lascar-I, Fireman, and Topass positions.

Selected candidates will receive a monthly salary in accordance with government regulations.
